Choosing Your Ironmongery

Choosing your ironmongery

Ironmongery is a necessity and something that you will use every day. It may seem like a small final detail, but the correct choice of door, window or kitchen furniture can totally transform the interior look, feel and function of any property.

When choosing your ironmongery there are three important things to consider: functionality, style and finish.

It’s important to think about these three factors simultaneously as they all affect one another. For example, the finish choice is often determined by the product type and vice versa. If you are choosing ironmongery for a complete renovation or new-build then it is vital to consider the functionality, style, and finish at an early stage to achieve consistency throughout a project

Determine your Door Type First consider your entrance doors. Do you have a composite, framed or double boarded entrance door? Double boarded doors can be fitted with thumb latches and T hinges or lever handles and butt hinges. Framed doors incorporate recessed lever locks that are used with lever lock handles. They can also be fitted with recessed deadlocks and latches for use with escutcheons and mortice knobs. Composite doors come fitted with a multi-point locking system in place. They are most fitted with an espagnolette door handle, but a pull handle and euro door pull can also be used.

Choose the Style. Make decisions on the type of ironmongery that you would like. Do you prefer mortice knobs or lever door handles for example? Then consider the design. Our extensive collection of traditional and period ironmongery includes a variety of distinctive styles. Choose between Avon, Reeded, Monkey tail, Gothic and many more. We have carefully developed a diverse product range in each style to offer our customers greater choice and provide continuity throughout a project.

Consider the Finish. Do you prefer our traditional beeswax or the more contemporary polished nickel? We offer a wide-ranging choice of specialist finishes that suit a variety of tastes and looks
